Fling an Old Shoe
Still perspiring after done the first step of a scrupulous cleaning up, falling on my Bud with a Thud and kicking off my slippers, my eyes noticed the July Guinness World Record of the National Geographic Kids magazine. They managed to tie more than 10,500 sneakers together by the shoelaces to create a whopping 1.65 miles long chain of shoes. (I tried to imagine this rather exotic line all the way to downtown..). The magazine’s record was to encourage recycling. And those 1.65 miles of sneakers will go to Nike’s Reuse-a-Shoe program to get recycled into material for basketball courts and other athletic surfaces. People like the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team and Cameron Diaz donated sneakers too. Mmm.. I wonder… could I string some of my rubbish together to get recycled as well, into…let’s say: those cute sneakers I saw at SM? Shoo this daydream Glor… let’s get cracking again!
