Nothing to wear

Every time I get a wedding invitation, or any other official big gathering for that matter, I’m totally frustrated about what to wear. With me it’s not the classic images of a nail biting desperate woman in front of her closet and the entire wardrobe scattered all over the floor! Nor the lady on her bed with ‘wait-till-I-get-the-button-closed wrestle! I just don’t have those clothes on the floor with a natural simple elegance that suits so well for heyday occasions. And till now the battle with Belly is a non-decisive. I can’t afford to buy clothes with future events in the back of my mind, which is always a great advantage, if one can. Just to think of the fact alone I wouldn’t freak out on the day. So often on such days I feel numb what to wear. I have good reasons not to buy in advance but it’s still a poor excuse. This coming August 29 there’s another wedding to attend, until now I feel lost. The motif is Golden Brown. I must wear something that at least coordinates the motif…

Despite this gloomy prospect of nothing to wear, or just because of that, I like to share this wonderful clip with all of you. Such an awesome and inspiring surprise what one can do with almost 'nothing to wear'.. So, if one of you girls wants a something out of the ordinary shoot out of the Big Day...remind this 'Drown the Gown' clip...

Timeless Pieces of Summer

The very 2 pieces of summer outfit that we all like to have if possible in multitudes, were celebrating their 62nd birthday last July this year: the bikini! While it took quiet a while for us Asians to Dare to Wear, it wasn’t all an easy ABC for our beloved Mere Nothing at the Parisian 1946 Debut. Frankly: it rather was that a shocking event that the models who were supposed to wear them refused, and a hired stripper had to save the show!

But it wasn’t really the very first time the bikini was wrapped around the female curves. In the 4th century Roman female gymnasts wore ‘bandeau’ tops, the spitting image of our much valued bikini of today. With the caving in of the Roman Empire darkness set in, till 1907, when Australian swimmer Annette Kellerman was charged with ‘indecent exposure’ for her beach appearing in a sleeveless tank suit, that just showed some arms and legs. But at least it was a first glimpse of a revival. In the American 40s celebs like Ava Gardner and Rita Hayworth were wearing two-pieces, oddly enough all with the navel covered. Belly-Button was a No-Way-to-Expose.

It was only till 1946 that the bikini was taking a more familiar shape when the two Frenchmen Jack Heim and Louis Reard got their more skimpy follow-up of the two-piece on the catwalk (with great difficulty, as mentioned above). The latter introduced his line just a handful of days after the USA had begun their atomic tests on the Bikini atol. He called his line ‘le bikini’, with pretty much the same impact on planet Earth! Not that the war was won: even in the 50s, many heads, exept some French, were nodding ‘oh no’. A quote from a 1957 ‘Modern Girl’ issue: ...it’s hardly necessary to waste words over the so-called bikini, since it’s inconceivable that any girl with tact and decency would ever wear ’such a thing’!

But the waves were keeping on bashing the Ancient Sand Castles of Fashion. The bikinis got strongholt after strongholt. In the 1962 James Bond ‘Dr. No’, Ursala Andress got on shore armoured in an ouverture not to be ignored. Bryan Hyland’s hit song ‘Itsy Bitsy Teene Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini’ was stripping off the last defence, made it start to become fun. In vain some sour faces tried to turn the tide with remarks like that ‘bikinis were just for the perfect, young and tummy-less’.

Was it all washed away, by then? There was a shivering, if not a tidal wave in the 70s, when the Brazilian thong-bikini wave hit the sandy beach of Copa Cobana. And it’s still noticable in some corners of this planet today. The side-effect of it was almost restricted to European beaches; the topless bikini. That wave has mainly been taken over by swimming suits and other less revealing outfits by now. Is this then the end of a 62-year old phenomenon? My guess is that as long as there’s a beach, bikinis will be on it!

If you still like to take a plunge into some ocean, and need an idea or two for some new stunning beachwear, I suggest a visit to a place like berrydog.com... if that stuff is dead and almost buried, I eat my old bikini, I swear it...

...She is so cute and sweet..:)

...so adorable and so pretty baby!:) she definitely not my daughter:( I'm speechless to have one! LOL

The model's imperfection

I am so bored with a frustration that I couldn't view my blogs and of others. I don't know how does it look like after publishing my post. Well, to entertain my frustration I often watched this clip those model's who fall during their ramp. No body's perfect no matter how you perfectly compose yourself it would sometimes suddenly fail to success.:( LOL I don't judge this but couldn't resist myself to laugh every time I watch.:)

Tag Shoes

Over due tag from Ylan:

It is a good thing I bought one pair of sandal a few days ago because I can participate this tag. It's been a decade that I was not able to buy one. When I am not working I am more fond of flat shoes or flip flops because they're comfy shoes to wear. I am flat footed, I have 2 sizes of shoes to consider: if it is sandals it would be 7 ½ or 8 and close shoes is 7 or 71/2 not 8.. hehe I know it’s huge but see the bright side of it: not one of my 5 sisters and my mother could borrow any of my shoes. If you are amazed of my big size you should meet my sisters and mother for they have big sized feet.. But I can sneak the shoes of my mother for all her shoes are comfy and nice, despite they're a bit bigger I’d still wear them..hehe

{start copy}

What’s your shoe size? Are your feet the same size as your mom’s feet? How about your sister’s feet? Can you borrow shoes from each other?

Post a picture of your latest shoe buy. Tag the number of women of your shoe size, i.e. size 5 = tag 5 friends. Don’t forget to drop a line in this blog when you’re done.

Anyway, I'll take the chance now because I heard of another restruction of electric power these coming days so I'll grab the opportunity to post all the delayed, super delayed tags from all the bloggers... Please bear with me..I honestly like doing it all, unfortunately didn't have the power to do so..hehe it's not an alibi huh..lol

Paper's Patient

In an attempt to get back to the Swing of Life, I have to admit to have wasted time and a lot of paper jotting down a whole bunch of wild ideas. But nothing has been finished, ready to get published. But the clip here made me feel a bit less guilty. Paper can be used again. So do good ideas. Nothing wasted. Just a bit more patience you girls!

Chanel's cake

Can't find the time to write a lot right now. Felt a fever when my friend Josephine invited me to keep her company on her B-day. I won't save any cake for all of you (despite the fever, I feel peckish) but I promise to show a picture next time.

Rock and Rollin'

When you read this, I must have crossed the rocky waters to Camotes already. Accompanied with just a plastic bag and Aristotle Onassis' quote: "To succeed in business it's necessary to make others see the things as you see them". The plastic bag is important because it contains all my stuff to make me feel a woman. Including a pepper spray to fight off the ferry's rat. And no: I don't mean the captain (bless the man) but a real dark rat I saw last time. The quote is a boost for me to get (good) things rollin'...a bit more to my direction, if you please! See you guys tomorrow!
